S’porean couple announces gender of baby with wrestling match

Gender reveal parties just got wilder and it seems balloon popping alone won’t cut it these days.
While one local couple chose to hire a lion dance troupe to announce the gender of their baby, another Singaporean couple decided a wrestling match was the way to go.
In a 30-second video posted by a Reddit user who claims to be a friend of the couple, two wrestlers, one wearing a blue outfit and another in pink battled it out in a boxing ring to the tune of ‘Baby Shark’.
Another video also revealed that the baby’s mum knew the gender, but the father did not.
A check online revealed the father participates in matches with Grapplemax Pro Wrestling Studios who set up the baby bout.
The couple later announced the gender (it’s a boy!), and the winner of the match through a confetti-filled balloon.
Netizens were naturally impressed by the creativity of the couple, with many congratulating the soon-to-be-parents.
“Who says Singaporeans don’t know how to have fun?” read a comment.
Even skeptics praised the unique idea, with one saying: “Not a fan of gender reveal parties, but this is done right. Mad props!”.
Others praised the wrestling match for also being more environmentally friendly, with one netizen saying there was no litter left behind nor forest fires created.
The netizen was referring to a gender reveal in the US which ended up causing the fatal California fire in 2020.
The fire ran through 120 kilometres of forests and killed a firefighter.
