    ايزدخواست
‎, also Romanized as Īzadkhvāst and Īzad Khvast; also known as Īzad Khast, Yazd-e Khāst, Yazd-e Khvāst, and Yezd-i-Khast; also known as Samīrum) is a city in the Central District of Abadeh County, Fars Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 7,366, in 1,803 families.

The Complex of Izadkhast is located in the Fars Province of Iran, roughly 135 km south of Isfahan. The complex consists of Izad-Khast Castle, a caravanserai, and a Safavid-period bridge. The castle structure is of particular interest due to the different architectural styles incorporated into the construction of the building, including Sassanid and Qajar periods. The architecture of the castle is unique to Izadkhast, and only comparisons in building materials can be made to other sites in the region.
The Complex of Izadkhast is located in Izadkhast in the Fars Province of Iran, roughly 135km south of Isfahan. It is a historical complex listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. The complex consists of the Izad-khast Castle and old ruined town, the Izadkhast Caravanserai roadside inn, and a Safavid-period bridge. The complex is located on a natural base with the castle built on a bedrock to protect it from foreign attacks. The architecture of the complex displays unique characteristics to Izadkhast.
The Izad-Khast Castle is the most important section of the complex. It is unique to Izadkhast and the only comparison to its building materials are found in sites of the Izadkhast region. The works within the castle displays different architectural styles and date back to the Sassanid and Qajar dynasty periods.
The castle is built on a singular bedrock in a sand construction, close to the valley of Izadkhast. The smallness of the bedrock had led to an increase of castle floors. It also led to an agglomeration of small built rooms. The castle was only accessible from a bridge and a gate built in the most accessible part of the complex.

    Mapmaker:
Cornelius de Bruijin (1652-1727), alternatively known as de Bruyn, was born in The Hague, Holland, in 1652. He was a prominent Dutch artist and traveler of the late 17th and early 18th century. His is known to have made two large tours of Europe and Asia in which he made numerous drawings of the great cities and ruins of the Middle East. In a bit of shady dealing, some suppose that our Cornelius de Bruijin was in fact the same Cornelius de Bruijn who tried to assassinate the legendary Dutch statesman Johan de Witt. Although de Bruijin vehemently denied any relation to the infamous assassin of the same name, there is some suspicious activity regarding his finances on his first trip that may suggest the contrary. In any case, he was not charged with any crime and the mystery of his finances may indeed be assumed to represent an espionage commission for the Dutch government. De Bruijin is particularly famed for his depictions of Persepolis in Persia, is one of the first Europeans to have recorded the interior of the Great Pyramid of Giza, and is known for two fascinating books he published about his travels. Despite his successes, de Bruijin died a pauper and, some claim, insane, near Utrecht in 1727. Such is the artist's life.
