Issued c.1725, London [for Moll or Salmon?]. Engraved by G. Thornton.
Plan reflects the early fortified walls and moatsl Specx design of this important European Colonial Powers maritime trading port. Map corresponds to today's modern Jakarta Old Town.
Well-known early plan. Extensive key lower right in English identfying dozens of specific features on the map. North oriented to the left.
Map has various old paper repairs on reverse. Visible extraneous creasing (unique to paper hand-made from pulped rags during this era), sheet top edge browned, shaved to neatline and slightly chipped in spots, etc.
Short video displays very well the condition of the map- please watch prior to purchase to avoid surprises and see accurately as it survives. Old inexpert repair to 7" tear right middle edge, readily mendable if desired with simple basic conservation effort and flattening.
Despite any condition issues, map still displays well and visually attractive and appealing. Rare version of this city plan in any condition.

Printed area measures c.12 1/2" x 15 1/2".
