Bahr & Proschild 309 SH Cabinet Doll - Exquisite Costume - 1890's

Description

This offering is for a 16” doll with a gorgeous shoulder head made of desirable light colored bisque. The condition of the bisque is excellent - no damage or restoration. There are a few tiny pepper size spots on her face — hardly noticeable but mentioned for accuracy. The doll’s head has beautiful elongated facial modeling featuring beautiful spiral glass blue eyes, natural blushing, perfectly painted features including French style painted lips. Her replaced brown with red highlights wig really enhances her light colored complexion. The numbers “309” may be seen if the back’s leather neckline is slightly pulled down. BODY: The doll’s original kid gusset jointed body has bisque lower arms and hands. and cloth lower legs. They are without damage or restoration. The sturdy body has a few old extremely tiny leather patches and there are no sawdust leaks. The numbers (hard to see) under the edge of the leather on the doll’s back read “309”. Bahr & Proschild produced this doll in the late 1890’s. ATTIRE: Dolly wears an elegant designer made elegant gown with a separate fitted garment worn partially over the gown with a long train. The gown is lined and the fine stitchery includes a lot of hand sewing. The gown & garment with the train are made of beautiful peach colored chiffon with black lace embellishments. Pale beige chiffon undergarments include pantaloons and a long full slip. Vintage black stockings & black laced shoes fit this little lady perfectly. The “Wow Factor” for milady’s attire is the plush peach colored hat decorated with a large long black feather that matches her dress. There is no damage, wear, mends or any other imperfections present on any piece of the costume. This doll comes from a smoke free environment.
